Marie S. Shimer, 77, of McConnellsburg, PA passed away Wednesday, March 20th, 2013 at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg, PA.
Marie was born in McConnellsburg, PA on October 1, 1935, the daughter of the late Charlie and Mildred (Sipes) Melius. She was the widow of Jack L. Shimer whom she married on December 28, 1955 and he passed away on June 16, 1993.
Mrs. Shimer was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Society, the Green Hill Sewing Club, Harrisonville, PA, the Girl Scouts of America for forty years holding various volunteer positions, was 2010 Fulton County Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the year, was on the advisory board for Services for Children for many years and was a teachers aide at the Central Fulton Elementary School for twenty-seven years. She also loved camping, cooking and spending time with her family.
She is survived by Daughters Jackie S. (wife of Rodney) Mellott of Waynesboro, PA, Ann M. (wife of Denny) Seville of McConnellsburg, PA, Son Rob C. Shimer of McConnellsburg, PA, Sisters Edna Straley of James Creek, PA, Nellie Gress of Knobsville, PA, Linda Faith of Warfordsburg, PA, nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Preceded in death by two infant sisters and four infant brothers.
Services and interment will be private at the convenience of family.
There will be visitation on Sunday, March 24, 2013 from 6 to 8 P.M. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania, 350 Hale Avenue, Harrisburg, PA 17104.
