Madaline P. Garland

Madaline P. "Mattie"  Garland, 91, of McConnellsburg, PA, passed away Tuesday, January 3rd, at Embassy of Woodland Park, Orbisonia, PA.

Mattie was born in Maddensville, PA on February 11, 1931, a daughter of the late Myrtle C. (Wagner) and Zane H. Anderson.  She was the widow of Harold E. Garland, whom she married on July 22, 1950.  He preceded her in death on November 19, 1982.

In her younger years, Mattie worked in the kitchen at Penn Hall, then worked as a seamstress at Sagner in McConnellsburg, Pa.  She then went on to work at Corning Glass in Greencastle, PA.  She was a member of the VFW Post 655 McConnellsburg, PA.  Mattie enjoyed camping and loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter Karen S. Runk, of McConnellsburg, PA and sister Carolyn "Kay" Rosenberry, of Maddensville, PA.  She is also survived by four grandchildren Wendy Etter of Edenville, PA, J.R. Everts of Hustontown, PA, Amanda Garland of Hustontown, PA, Jeff Garland of Hustontown, PA, six great grandchildren Jaedn Etter, Alena Everts, Clayton Everts, Zoe Everts, Adtam Dupree and Rose Garland.  She was preceded in death by a son Rodger Garland, sisters Jackie Mills, Geraldine Moist, Betty Huston, Lillian Cowan and brother Miles Horne.

There will be a Celebration of Life at Stone Hollow Farm 16937 Great Cove Rd. McConnellsburg, PA, at 12:00 PM on Saturday, January 14th,  with Jeremy Fletcher officiating.  There will be one hour of visitation held prior to the service.  Interment will be private at the convenience of the Family.
