Lois I. Mcgowan

Lois I. McGowan, 80, of Hustontown, PA passed away Tuesday, December 7th, 2010 at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg, PA. Lois was born in Johnstown, PA on September 21, 1930, the daughter of the late Vaughn and Ruby (Strait) Barnett.  She was the widow of LeRoy E. McGowan whom she married on August 13, 1949 and he passed away on June 25, 2007. She was a former member of the Hustontown United Methodist Church and attended the Fairview United Methodist Church, Harrisonville, PA.  Mrs. McGowan was a 1948 graduate of the former Hustontown High School, helped to organize the HAVFCO Ladies Auxillary where she was a charter member and was a waitress at the Cavalier Motel and Restaurant and the Pleasant Valley Restaurant in Ft. Littleton, PA for most of her life. Lois is survived by Sons Terry L. McGowan of Hustontown, PA, Randy L. McGowan of Hustontown, PA, Sisters Charlotte Crouse of Hustontown, PA, Linda Fix of Hustontown, PA, five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and one step-great grandchild.  Preceded in death by brothers Guy and Robert Barnett. Religious Service at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA, at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, December 10th, 2010  with Pastor Bill Kuhn officiating. Interment at Center United Methodist Cemetery, Waterfall, PA. There will be visitation on Thursday, December 9th, 2010 from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.  There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Friday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.howardlsipes.com.
