Lois Jean Bard

Lois Jean Bard, 85, of Rapid City, SD, and formerly of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2017. Lois was born in Warfordsburg, PA on May 31, 1932, a daughter of the late Ada Ellen (Deneen) and Marshall "Earl" Truax.  She was the widow of Wayne H. Bard, whom she married on January 15, 1952.  He preceded her in death on September 27, 2009. She was the Office Manager at Hepbun Orchards in Hancock, MD for about twenty years.  She also worked as a Bank Teller at  various local banks before and after working at Hepburn Orchards. She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church Needmore, PA, where she previously served as Treasurer and was a member of the United Methodist Women and  the Harrisonville Charge. Lois is survived by her daughter Melinda L. (wife of Robert) Sass, of Rapid City, SD and sister Georgia Gray, of Mercersburg, PA.  She is also survived by a grandson Christopher W. (husband of Kalen Melhoff) Fuentes, granddaughters Celena M. Sass, Abigail L. Sass, great grandchildren Corazon "Cora" Fuentes and Everly M. Fuentes.  She was preceded in death by a sister Josephine Mellott and a brother Benjamin Truax. A Memorial Service will be held at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Needmore, PA, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 7th,  with Rev. Donald Bard officiating.   There will also be one hour of visitation held before the service at the church. Interment at Ebenezer United Methodist Church Needmore, PA.
