Kermit E. Mellott, 89, a resident of Woodland Retirement Home in Orbisonia, PA and formerly of Needmore, PA passed away Monday, March 7th, 2011 at Woodland Retirement Home, Orbisonia, PA.
Kermit was born in Needmore, PA on March 19, 1921, the son of the late Lester and Lola (DeShong) Mellott. He was the widower of Velma (Strait) Mellott.
Mr. Mellott served in the U.S. Army in WW II, was a member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, was a township supervisor and a dairy farmer all of his life.
He is survived by Daughters Judith (wife of Sheldon) Mellott of Greencastle, PA, Carman Joan (wife of Paul) Johnson of Hancock, MD, Son Donald Mellott of Needmore, PA, Step-Daughter Melody Hixon of Warfordsburg, PA, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Preceded in death by second wife Dorothy (Hann) Mellott and sister Margaret Mellott.
Religious Service at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA, at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 16th, 2011 with Pastor Doug Poffenberger officiating.
Interment at Sideling Hill Christian Cemetery, Needmore, PA.
There will be visitation on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA. There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Military services will be conducted by the Fulton Honor Guard.
