John D. "J.D" Deshong

John D. "J.D." DeShong, 60, of McConnellsburg, PA passed away Tuesday, June 7th, 2022 at his residence. John was born in McConnellsburg, PA on August 4, 1961, the son of the late Mary A. (Harford) and Thomas A. DeShong.  He was the husband of Linda D. (Hess) DeShong whom he married on May 10, 1996. John served in the US Marines, was a member of the McConnellsburg American Legion Post #561, the Fraternal Order of Eagles #4274 in Harrisonville, PA, the Harrisonville Sportsman's Club and the Fulton Honor Guard.  He was still employed after thirty plus years at Mellott Company in Warfordsburg, PA as a heavy equipment service mechanic.  John enjoyed socializing, playing tickets, hunting and fishing. In addition to his wife, he is survived by step-son Shay Hess, of New Kent, VA, brothers Thomas E. "Ed" DeShong, of McConnellsburg, PA and Darrell C. (husband of Debbie)  DeShong, of Jacksonville, NC.  John was preceded in death by brothers James R., Timothy M. "Mike", and Phillip Lee DeShong. A memorial service will be held on June 26, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the McConnellsburg American Legion Post 561 with Jeremy Fletcher officiating.  There will be a visitation held one hour prior to the service at the Legion.
