John E. Helman, 73, of McConnellsburg, PA passed away Saturday, May 9th, 2015 at Manor Care Nursing Home, Chambersburg, PA.
John was born in McConnellsburg, PA on August 2, 1941, the son of the late Anna L. (Seville) and Norman Helman. He was the husband of Norma J. (DeShong) Helman whom he married on February 19, 1974.
He served in the U.S. Army as a Medic in the Vietnam War, attended the Sideling Hill Christian Church, Needmore, PA, was a member of the VFW Post# 655, McConnellsburg, PA, the American Legion Post# 561, McConnellsburg, PA, the Fulton Honor Guard and also coached Midget Football in Fulton County for a number of years.
Mr. Helman had worked at Nu Way Dry Cleaners for seventeen years, left JLG Industries, McConnellsburg, PA as a Senior Supervisor after twenty-seven years and also co-owned Lincoln Way Pizza, McConnellsburg, PA from 1994 to 2010.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by Sons Vincent J. (husband of Tammy) Helman of Shippensburg, PA, Joseph A. Helman of McConnellsburg, PA, Anthony M. (husband of Amy) Helman of McConnellsburg, PA, Step-Daughter Kimberley A. (wife of Gary) Golden of Warfordsburg, PA, Sisters Hope Seville of St. Thomas, PA, Evelyn Snyder of Shade Gap, PA, Elizabeth "Sis" Johnson of Shade Gap, PA, Sally Sowers of McConnellsburg, PA, Gayle Chesnut of McConnellsburg, PA, Mary Noyse of Fayetteville, PA, Brother Jim Helman of Ft. Loudon, PA, Grandchildren Cody Helman, Levi Helman, Ethan and Kylie Golden. Preceded in death by son Jonathan C. Helman, sisters Betty Seville, Carol Mills, brothers Carl Helman, Quay Helman and Dean Helman.
Services and Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
