Jenny G. Mellott

Jenny G. Mellott, 76, Warfordsburg, PA died Monday, December 5, at the Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg, PA. Born May 22, 1935, in Needmore, PA, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Rosetta (Paylor) Mellott.  She was preceded in death by two sisters, Myrtle (Mellott) Clevenger and Emma Mellott; five brothers, Harold, Vaughn (Sam), Donald, Blair, and Mayford. She is survived by her daughter Donna (Mellott) Chambers and husband Jim of Warforddsburg, PA, son Russell Mellott of Warfordsburg, PA and three grandchildren; James Chambers II and Christine Sanchez of California, and Jeffrey Chambers of Flordia.  Jenny had seven great grandchildren: Sarah, James III, Cole, Jake, Alejandro, Kayla and Jayden who loved to call and visit "GREAT Grandma"- she always had special candy treats waiting for them. Jenny enjoyed walking her dogs through the fields and woods.  She loved all animals and the great outdoors.  All of her life she adopted and cared for stray animals and fed the wildlife (fur and feather) through each winter.  Jenny especially loved working in the garden to grow fresh vegetables to share with friends and family.  She started each February carefully creating and encouraging indoor starter plants which she lovingly moved outdoors in April and shared with family and friends.  She transplanted her plants into the garden in late spring. Jenny was a very kind soul who cared for the gravesites of family and friends for more than five decades.  Memorial Day found her and her son Russell placing flags on the military gravesites at Needmore-Warfordsburg area cemeteries year after year.  She alsoloved to bake, especially for the holidays when she joyfully prepared candies, cakes and pies to deliver and share with friends and family throughout Fulton County and beyond.  Jenny's peanut brittle and apple cakes were huge favorites in the county. Services will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at 11:00AM at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., Mcconnellsburg, PA with Rev. William Swope officiating.  There will a visitation held on Wednesday, December 7th at the funeral home from 2PM to 8PM with the family receiving friends from 6PM to 8PM.  There will also be an hour of visitation before the service on Thursday. Interment will be at the Sideling Hill Primitive Baptist Cemetery, Needmore, PA. In lieu of flowres donations maybe made in memory of Jenny to the American Cancer Society, Franklin & Fulton Unit 384 Floral Ave. Chambersburg, PA  17201.
