Jack A. Deshong, Sr.

Jack A. DeShong, Sr., 84, of McConnellsburg, PA passed away Sunday, October 18th, 2015 at his residence. Jack was born in Stoney Ridge, PA on July 10, 1931, a son of the late Olive M. (Fix) and Harry A. DeShong.  He was the husband of Winifred M. (Ulsh) DeShong whom he married on January 4, 1952. He attended the Clayton Memorial Church in Mercersburg, PA, retired from Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, PA in 1986 and enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family. In addition to his wife, Jack is survived by his daughter Lucinda M. Clingerman, of Frederick, MD; son Jack A. (husband of Teressa) DeShong, Jr., of McConnellsburg, PA; sister Betty Christian, of McConnellsburg, PA; brothers Max J. DeShong, of McConnellsburg, PA. and James Nelson DeShong, of McConnellsburg, PA. He is also survived by five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by sister Julia Chestnut, brother William DeShong and two infant sisters. Funeral service will be held at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA, on Wednesday, October 21st, 2015 at 1:00 PM with Pastor John Bennett officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 20th, 2015 from 5 PM to 8 PM at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.  There will also be one hour of visitation held before the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Center United Methodist Cemetery, Waterfall, PA.
