Ivan V. Clevenger, 78, of Warfordsburg, PA passed away Saturday, December 11th, 2010 at his residence.
Ivan was born in Buck Valley, PA on October 4, 1932, the son of the late William H. and Jessie (Mellott) Clevenger. He was the widower of Jacqueline P. (Lewis) Clevenger whom he married in May of 1972 and she passed away December 9, 1986.
He served in the U.S. Army as a SFC (T) in the Korean War, was a member of Amaranth Church of the Brethren, Warfordsburg, PA, the VFW in Breezewood, PA, the AARP and was a retired can maker from the American Can Company in Fairport, NY
Mr. Clevenger is survived by Sons Donald Clevenger of Palmyra, NY, William Clevenger of Palmyra, NY, Colin (husband of Wendy) Clevenger of Hopewell, PA, Step-daughters Rhonda Laviolette of Grand Prairie, Alberta, Juanita Laviolette of Red Deer, Alberta, Step-son Leigh Laviolette of Grand Prairie, Alberta, Sisters Mildred Powers of Big Pool, MD, June Smith of Wolcott, NY, Bonnie Smith of North Rose, NY, Brothers Ray Clevenger of North Rose, NY, Billy Clevenger of Lyons, NY, three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Preceded in death by step-son Byron Laviolette, sisters Pauline Carnell, Nancy Decker, Adrienne Palmer, brothers Dale and Jack Clevenger.
Religious Service at Amaranth Church of the Brethren, Warfordsburg, PA, at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 16th, 2010 with Pastor Freeman Snair officiating.
Interment at Amaranth Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Warfordsburg, PA.
There will be visitation on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA. There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Thursday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Ivan Clevenger to Lutheran Home Care & Hospice, 2700 Lutheran Drive Chambersburg, PA 17201.
Military services will be conducted by the Fulton Honor Guard.
