Ida A. (Everts) Steele

Ida A. Steele, 91, a resident of Menno Haven Nursing Home and formerly of Shade Gap, PA passed away Saturday, March 3rd, 2012 at Menno Haven Nursing Home, Chambersburg, PA. Ida was born in Thompson Twp., PA on November 21, 1920, the daughter of the late Dennis and Sarah (Gregory) Everts.  She was the widow of William  Steele whom she married on January 19, 1958 and he passed away on April 9, 2000. She was a member of the Fair Ridge Assembly of God Church, Shade Gap, PA, worked as a waitress at the Toll House Restaurant in Ft. Littleton, PA for several years and was a cook and well known pie baker at Sunny Ridge Restaurant in Shade Gap, PA upon retiring at age 68.  Her joys in life were fulfilled in being a homemaker, gardening, yard work, canning and filling special requests for her baked goods. Mrs. Steele is survived by Sons Johnnie D. (husband of Ruth) Clugston of St. Thomas, PA, Lawrence Jr. (huband of Linda) Clugston of Chambersburg, PA, Dennis "Earl" (husband of Jean) Clugston of New Park, PA, Daughter Patricia A. Mills of Sagamore Hills, OH, Step-Daughter Ruth Leidich of Harrisburg, PA and Step-Son Cecil Clugston of Chambersburg, PA.  She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by her first husband Wilbur R. Clugston who passed away on April 20, 1949, step-children Dorothy McCardell, Reed Clugston and Esta Hunter. Religious Service at Fair Ridge Assembly of God Church, Shade Gap, PA, at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 7th, 2012 with Pastor Karey Schaffer officiating. Interment at Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg, PA. There will be visitation on Tuesday, March 6th, 2012 from 2 to 8 P.M. with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 P.M. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., 873 Lincoln Way East, McConnellsburg, PA 17233.  There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Wednesday at the church.
