Hilda G. Hill

Hilda G. Hill, 94, of Mercersburg, PA, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at the Mercy House in Chambersburg, PA.

Hilda was born in Saluvia, PA, on March 31, 1931, a daughter of the late Paul C. and Hazel B. (Hauman) Erb.

Hilda served in the cafeteria at the Tuscarora School District for eighteen years. She was an active member of the Charlestown United Methodist Church for sixty years, where she enjoyed helping with the chicken BBQ's and was known for making the church's secret sauce.

Hilda loved visiting flea markets- especially those in Belleville and Reedsville- attending the Fulton Fall Folk Festival, where she particularly enjoyed the Burnt Cabins Grist Mill and eating their buckwheat pancakes. In her spare time, she also enjoyed sewing, crocheting and traveling with her sister, visiting places such as Niagara Falls and Nashville.

She is survived by daughter, Diana (wife of Ed) Meyers, of Saint Thomas, PA; her son, Dennis Hill (companion of Michele Lemin), of Harrisonville, PA; and her son-in-law, Merle Pine, of Mercersburg, PA. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Cory (husband of Annisa) Meyers, Megan (wife of Jason) Martin, Joshua Hill, Alicia Hill, Lindsay (wife of Craig) Johnson and fourteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, June D. Pine and sister Beulah Wible.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, PA, with Pastor Grant Brouse officiating. There will be one hour of visitation held prior to the service on Wednesday. Interment will be at the Sideling Hill Christian Church Cemetery, Needmore, PA.

At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, monetary donations in memory of Hilda, may be made to Mercy House in Chambersburg, PA, 703 Norland Ave, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
