Helen M. Peiffer, 68, of Camp Ridge Rd. Harrisonville, PA, died at 3:20 PM on Sunday, July 17th, 2011 at her residence, in her daughters arms, along with a close family friend, after a long and courageous battle with bladder cancer. She was surrounded by love in her home the evening of her passing by family and friends who loved her.
Helen was born in Harrisonville, PA on November 26, 1942.
Helen was best known by all that knew her for her to love to cook and feed people. She always had extra room around her table for anyone that came into her home. She was known for saying, "You're not going away hungry, so please pull up a chair and eat with us." It seemed she would always win them over. And she would always ask them before they left the table " did you have enough to eat?" and "Are you sure?" Mother always told us "if you go away hungry, its your own fault, because there is plenty" and she always smiled. She was especially known for her homemade ham pot pie, elderberry pie and peach pies.
She will be desperately missed by her daughter, Sherry DeShong and companion Vaughn Snyder, whose days will never be the same without her. She will also be sadly missed by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, neices, nephews and our extended family and loved ones who were always a part of the family.
Services are private at the convenience of family.
Arrangments were handled by the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.
