Helen G. DeShong, 82, of St Thomas, PA passed away Tuesday, October 20th, 2015 in Marion, NC.
Helen was born in Needmore, PA on August 5, 1933, the daughter of the late Flora (Mills) and Raymond G. Clark. She was the widow of William R. DeShong who passed away on November 18, 2000.
Mrs. DeShong went to Green Hill High School in her earlier years and then in Warfordsburg, PA. She attended Sideling Hill Christian Church in Needmore, PA, Siloam United Methodist Church in Harrisonville, PA, was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Mercersburg, PA, was a seamstress at Sagner, Inc. in McConnellsburg, PA and also was a CNA at different nursing homes in the area as well as doing private home care. Helen enjoyed quilting, square dancing and cooking.
She is survived by son Raymond L. DeShong of St. Thomas, PA, daughter Robin K. (wife of David T.) Strode of Marion, NC, sisters Edna Crawford of St. Thomas, PA, Gladys Tomter of Chambersburg, PA, three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Preceded in death by first husband Lynn D. DeShong who passed away on February 15, 1977, sisters Rose Truax, Evelyn Mellott, brothers Charles, Guy, James and Clyde Clark.
Religious Service at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 24th, 2015 with Pastor William Swope officiating.
Visitation will be Friday, October 23rd, 2015 from 5 to 8 PM at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA. There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Interment at Sideling Hill Christian Cemetery, Needmore, PA.
