Hazel G. Sipes

Hazel G. Sipes, 87, of Needmore, PA passed away Saturday, November 8th, 2014 at the University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore,  MD. Hazel was born in Needmore, PA on March 15, 1927, the daughter of the late Emmer J. (Deshong) and Ralph W. Mellott.  She was the wife of Glenn A. Sipes whom she married on April 18, 1949 in Hagerstown, MD. Hazel worked as a homemaker and on the family farm her entire life.  In her earlier years, she worked at the G&V Restaurant in Needmore, PA, the Dairy Queen in Hancock, MD, the Clair Frock Sewing Factory in Hancock, MD and several local butcher shops in the area. Mrs. Sipes loved her garden, flowers and animals.  She was always thinking of her family and friends and doing things for them.  Hazel was a Christian woman, very kind hearted and a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by us all. In addition to her husband of sixty-five years, she is survived by Daughter Cynthia D. Shoemaker of Needmore, PA, Sons Mark A. (husband of Vicki) Sipes of McConnellsburg, PA, Donald E. (husband of Jeanie) Sipes of McConnellsburg, PA, Brothers Charles W. (husband of Blanche) Mellott of McConnellsburg, PA, Robert N. Mellott of Needmore, PA, six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by son-in-law Larry K. Morton. Religious Service at Sideling Hill Christian Church, Needmore, PA, at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 12th, 2014 with Pastor Bill Swope officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 11, 2014 from 6 to 8 PM. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.  There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Wednesday at the church. Interment at Sideling Hill Christian Cemetery, Needmore, PA.
