Hazel B. Deshong

Hazel B. DeShong, 88, of Needmore, PA passed away Monday, July 4th, 2016 at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg, PA. Hazel was born in Mercersburg, PA on February 19, 1928, the daughter of the late Hattie (Custer) and Fred  Reeder.  She was the widow of Ross R. DeShong whom she married on July 9, 1947 and he passed away on March 23, 2007. She was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Nazarene Church in Harrisonville, PA and was a homemaker.  Hazel also enjoyed spending time with her family and her church family. Mrs. DeShong is survived by daughters Linda DeShong of Harrisonville, PA, Susan J. (wife of Karl) Swope of Needmore, PA, son Walter R. (husband of Deborah) DeShong of Needmore, PA, sisters Kathleen Forbes of Chambersburg, PA, Josephine Mowen of Greencastle, PA, brothers Robert Reeder of Greencastle, PA, Rich Reeder of Raystown, PA, Don Reeder of Greencastle, PA, Ronnie Reeder of Greencastle, PA, seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.  Preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers. Religious Service at Pleasant Ridge Nazarene Church, Harrisonville, PA at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 8th, 2016  with Pastor William Swope and Pastor Tom Weller officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, July 7th, 2016 from 5 to 8 PM   at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.  There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Friday at the church. Interment at Pleasant Ridge Nazarene Cemetery, Harrisonville, PA.
