Guy Charles Truax

Guy Charles Truax, 93, of Harrisonville, PA, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at his home.

Guy was born in Needmore, PA on April 7, 1930, a son of the late Geraldine Melinda (Knable) and Earl Elmer James Truax.  He was the husband of Wanda Jeanne (McQuait) Truax, who he married on September 2, 1950.

Guy was a carpenter throughout his life, and a member of the Carpenter's Union Local 423 in Duncansville, PA.  He attended Grace Bible Methodist Church in Hustontown, PA.  In his younger years, he attended the Pleasant Ridge Church of the Nazarene in Harrisonville, PA.

Guy was an avid outdoorsman, gardener and woodworker.  He especially loved hunting, fishing and chasing raccoons with his hounds.  Guy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend and neighbor.  He enjoyed helping others in need or just being there for support.   His stories and jokes will be missed.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Patty M. (wife of Leon) Mellott, of Needmore, PA, daughter Cathy J. (wife of Richard) Stokes, of Harrisonville, PA, son Rodney C. (husband of Stacy) Truax, of Berkeley Springs, WV, son Edwin G. (husband of Tracey) Truax, of Fannettsburg, PA, daughter Jody C. (wife of Frank) Heidler, of Etters, PA and sister Annie  Long, of Chambersburg, PA.  He is also survived by twenty nine grandchildren, fifty-nine great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his brother Ivan Truax, sisters Thelma Mellott, Beatrice Mellott and infant brothers Marvin Earl Truax and Kenneth Merle Truax.

There will be a visitation held on  Sunday, October 8th from 6 PM to 8 PM. at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.  There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Monday at the church.

Funeral services will be held at the Pleasant Ridge Church of the Nazarene, Harrisonville, PA, at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 9th,  with Pastor Rodney Truax officiating.  Interment will be at the Pleasant Ridge Nazarene Cemetery Harrisonville, PA.
