Glenn A. Sipes, 95, of Needmore, PA passed away Wednesday, February 22nd, 2017 at his residence.
Glenn was born in Harrisonville, PA on January 4, 1922, the son of the late Laura (Schooley) and Rex Sipes. He was the widower of Hazel G. (Mellott) Sipes whom he married on April 18, 1949 and she passed away on November 8, 2014.
Mr. Sipes served in the U.S. Army as a TEC 5 in WW II and was a member of the Sideling Hill Christian Church in Needmore, PA. He was a farmer throughout his life who also was a truck driver, worked at JLG Industries in McConnellsburg, PA and also drove school bus for the Southern Fulton School District. Glenn loved hunting, horseback riding, working on the family farm and spending time with his family.
He is survived by daughter Cynthia D. Shoemaker of Needmore, PA, sons Mark A. (husband of Vicki) Sipes of McConnellsburg, PA, Donald E. (husband of Jeanie) Sipes of McConnellsburg, PA, sisters Betty Mae (wife of John) Buterbaugh of McConnellsburg, PA, Jane Batdorff of Harrisonville, PA, six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Preceded in death by son-in-law Larry K. Morton, sisters Nora Sherbuck, Naomi Mellott, Almeda Sipes, brother Raymond Sipes and two infant twin siblings.
Religious Service at Sideling Hill Christian Church, Needmore, PA at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 25th, 2017 with Pastor William Swope officiating.
Visitation will be Friday, February 24th, 2017 from 6 to 8 PM at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA. There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Saturday at the church.
Interment at Sideling Hill Christian Cemetery, Needmore, PA.
Military services will be conducted by the Fulton Honor Guard.
