Rev. Gerald G. Waltz

Rev. Gerald G. Waltz, 87, of Big Cove Tannery, PA, passed away Friday, November 24th, at the Winchester Hospital, Winchester, VA. Gerald was born in Big Cove Tannery, PA on May 14, 1930, a son of the late Helen (Lynch) and Gayle  Waltz.  He was the husband of Betty  J. (Shives) Waltz, whom he married on March 31, 1953. Gerald was a life long farmer and also worked for PennDot for twenty years,  He was a member of Antioch Christian Church, Big Cove Tannery, PA, where he served as a former minister, Sunday School teacher, and superintendent. In addition to his wife, Gerald is survived by his daughters Ann (wife of Russell) Hoffman, of Big Cove Tannery, PA,  Drema (wife of Michael) Purnell, of Wells Tannery, PA, sisters Beryl (wife of Glen) Palmer, of Warfordsburg, PA,  Phyllis Corsnitz, of Halifax, PA, Charlotte Tennis, of Waynesboro, PA,  Alma (wife of Alan)  Fitzwater, of Waynesboro, PA, and Audrey (wife of David) Norris, of Little Orleans, MD.  He is also survived by  four grandchildren; Beth (wife of Lee) Garner of Huntingdon, PA,  Russell (husband of Stephanie) Hoffman of Inwood, WV,  Brandon Purnell and Hannah Purnell, both of Wells Tannery, PA, two great grandchildren Allison and Kaleb Hoffman and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc.,  McConnellsburg, PA, at 2:00 PM  on Sunday, November 26th,  with Pastor David Hamilton officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Timber Ridge Cemetery Assc. C/O Russell Hoffman 1260 Waltz Rd. Big Cove Tannery, PA  17212.
