Gerald L. "Jerry" Reed

Gerald L. "Jerry" Reed, 73, of McConnellsburg, PA passed away Thursday, November 3rd, 2016 at Harrisburg General Hospital, Harrisburg, PA. Jerry was born in Saxton, PA on August 30, 1943, the son of the late Goldie Ann (Ritchey) and George Lewis Reed.  He was the husband of Deborah L. (Pollard) Reed whom he married on July 3, 1999. Mr. Reed was a member of the McConnellsburg United Presbyterian Church, the NRA and Bard's Hunting Club.  In his younger years, Gerry was a troop master for the Boy Scouts and remained active with other aspects of scouting for many years. He was a  math teacher at the McConnellsburg High School for thirty years upon retiring and also worked part-time at the former Fulton County National Bank in McConnellsburg, PA for thirty-nine years.  Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and car racing. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons Keith C. Reed of Cowans Gap, PA, Kevin L. (husband of Jenn) Reed of Lancaster, PA, daughter Alison M. (wife of Charles) Burnett of Chambersburg, PA, grandchildren Braeden Burnett, Olivia and Morgan Reed. Religious Service at McConnellsburg United Presbyterian Church, McConnellsburg, PA at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 7th, 2016  with Jeremy Fletcher officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, November 6th, 2016 from 2 to 8 PM.   at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.  There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Monday at the church. Interment at Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the McConnellsburg United Presbyterian Church, 116 South Second Street, McConnellsburg, PA 17233 or the McConnellsburg Senior Center, 100 Woodside Drive, McConnellsburg, PA  17233.
