George M. Shearer

It is with profound sadness that G.M. Shearer Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning, LLC and Shearer Custom Speed & Accessories, LLC share that founding owner and operator, George M. Shearer, 78, of McConnellsburg, PA passed on to his heavenly home on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at UPMC Shady Side, Pittsburgh, PA. George was born in Lewistown, PA on December 15, 1940, the son of the late Mary C. (Spade) and Marlan  Shearer.  He was the husband of Nancy J. (Fix) Shearer whom he married on December 21, 1963.

Mr. Shearer served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 to 1962, was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Harrisonville, PA and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his RV.

George began his Plumbing and HVAC business in McConnellsburg, PA in 1974 and became a well-respected business man working for many individuals and contractors in the local area contributing to new homes and installations all over Fulton, Franklin and Huntingdon Counties. Eventually as his sons grew, Jeff and Tom joined him in the business and continue on handling the day to day management. Because of his love of racing, in 2005, George added Shearer Custom Speed & Accessories next door to his Plumbing building with his son in law Marvin Winters continuing the day to day management of it.  George will be greatly missed by his family, friends, employees and business associates and will be remembered fondly as a hardworking, dependable, kind, caring and compassionate family man.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter Dana M. (wife of Marvin) Winters, of McConnellsburg, PA, sons Jeffrey M. (husband of Julie) Shearer, of Big Cove Tannery, PA, Thomas M. Shearer, of McConnellsburg, PA, sisters Diane Palmer, of McConnellsburg, PA, Debra Lopez, of Virginia Beach, VA, brother Richard Shearer, of Syracuse, NY, grandchildren Colby  Winters, Larkin and Zoe Shearer.

Visitation will be Friday, December 13, 2019 from 3 to 8 PM   at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.  There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Religious Service at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 14th, 2019  with Pastor Rob French officiating.

Interment at Asbury United Methodist Cemetery, Harrisonville, PA.

Military services will be conducted by the Fulton Honor Guard.
