George C. Gress

George C. Gress, 83, of Harrisonville, PA passed away Thursday, February 5th, 2015 at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg,  PA. George was born in Todd Township, PA on July 2, 1931, the son of the late Lena B. (DeShong) Gress McClain and W. Russell  Gress.  He was the widower of Marjorie "Sally"  (Keyser) Gress whom he married on February 10, 1955 and she passed away on July 22, 2013. Mr. Gress graduated from Green Hill High School in 1949, served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 as a SFC(T) in the Korean War, was a member of the Sideling Hill Christian Church, Needmore, PA, grounds keeper for many years of the Asbury Cemetery in Harrisonville, PA, had worked at E.D. Plumber in Chambersburg, PA, PennDOT and retired in 1991 from the Pennsylvania Turnpike. George enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as watching and attending all sporting and school events of his grandchildren.  He was an avid baseball fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and the Dallas Cowboys.  George and Sally also spent many years traveling to all fifty states. He is survived by Sons William T. (husband of Verna) Gress of McConnellsburg, PA, Gregory G. (husband of Tina) Gress of McConnellsburg, PA, Alan B. (fiance Amy Stauffer) Gress of Harrisonville, PA, Cory L. (husband of Donna) Gress of Harrisonville, PA, Brother Paul (husband of Ada) Gress of McConnellsburg, PA, eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.  Preceded in death by step-father George A. McClain and one great grandchild. Religious Service at Sideling Hill Christian Church, Needmore, PA, at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 10th, 2015  with Pastor Bill Swope officiating. Visitation will be Monday, February 9, 2015 from 2 to 8 PM.   at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.  There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Tuesday at the church. Interment at Asbury Cemetery, Harrisonville, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Asbury Cemetery Association, in care of Karla Shadle, 1681 Circle Drive, Harrisonville, PA 17228. Arrangements were made by the Howard L.
