Floyd "Bill" G. McGinnis, 79, of McConnellsburg, PA, passed away Monday, December 1, 2025, in McConnellsburg, PA.
Floyd was born on April 29, 1946, in Altoona, PA. He was the son of the late Floyd S. and Bessie M. (Swander) McGinnis. He was the husband of Janet R. (Rouzer) McGinnis, who he married on May 1, 2005, by Rev. Rick Cepris during the morning worship service at the McConnellsburg Presbyterian Church.
He graduated from Ferndale High School in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, in 1964. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, proudly serving from 1964 to 1968. Following his honorable discharge, he enlisted in the Pennsylvania State Police, where he dedicated himself to service until his retirement in April of 1990. In retirement, he continued to lend a helping hand to many, working on construction projects, painting homes inside and out, and caring for the grounds at the Lions Club Park in McConnellsburg, PA. He was a skilled woodworker and an avid outdoorsman, especially enjoying trapping, flintlock muzzleloader hunting, as well as fishing and camping along the Juniata River. He was a proud member of the Zion Masonic Lodge 774, McConnellsburg, PA, FOP, the Scottish Rite Consistory, Harrisburg, PA, and the Jaffa Shriners in Altoona, PA. He also belonged to the McConnellsburg United Presbyterian Church, where he once served as a trustee, and was a past Post Commander of American Legion Post 561, McConnellsburg, PA.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Michael S. (husband of Maria) McGinnis, of Texas; his daughter, Tammy Goff, and step-daughter, Connie (wife of Doug) Brown, of Hustontown, PA; He is also survived by a grandson, Matthew Brown (companion of Evie Altland), of Harrisburg, PA, grandson, Michael S. McGinnis Jr., great-grandson, Tristan McGinnis, and one sister Kathleen Tumblin, of South Carolina. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Sullivan.
There will be a Masonic service on December 14, 2025 held at 2:00 PM with a memorial service following at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, PA. There will be one hour of visitation held prior to the service on Sunday. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Bill, may be made to a charity of one's choice.
