Esta J. Deshong

Esta J. DeShong, 98, of McConnellsburg, PA, passed away Friday, July 1, 2022 at her home.

Esta was born in McConnellsburg, PA on August 9, 1923, a daughter of the late Stella P. (Schooley) and Harry  D. Ficks.  She was the widower of Clifford T. DeShong, whom she married on September 21, 1944.  He preceded her in death on March 12, 1984.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Sideling Hill Christian Church Needmore, PA.  She enjoyed gardening, canning and taking care of her family, whom she loved dearly.

She is survived by her daughters Sharon A. (wife of Larry) DeShong, of Harrisonville, PA,  Rosella J.  DeShong, of McConnellsburg, PA, Linda L. Peck, of Needmore, PA, Meredith V. (wife of Lindsay, Sr.) Mellott, of McConnellsburg, PA, Julia A. Garland, of Hustontown, PA, sons Larry T. (husband of Darlene) DeShong, of Needmore, PA, Timmy R.  DeShong, of McConnellsburg, PA and Donnie H. (husband of Linda) DeShong, of Breezewood, PA.  She is also survived by twenty two grandchildren and forty-one great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by son-in-laws Rodger Garland, Daniel Peck, Egons Zomerfelds, daughter-in-law Pamela DeShong and grandson Donald R. Buterbaugh lll.

There will be a visitation held on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Sideling Hill Christian Church, Needmore, PA.

Funeral services will be at the Sideling Hill Christian Church, Needmore, PA, at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 7th,  with Pastor William Swope and Pastor Joshua Shadle officiating.  There will also be one hour of visitation held prior to the service at the church.

Interment will be at Sideling Hill Christian Cemetery Needmore, PA.
