Earl M. Edwards, Sr.

Earl M. Edwards, Sr., 63, of Big Cove Tannery, PA, passed away Wednesday, June 8th, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown, PA. Earl was born in Big Cove Tannery, PA on October 4, 1952, a son of the late Abbie M. (Carbaugh) and Melvin E. Edwards.  He was the husband of Carole L. (Carbaugh) Edwards, whom he married on March 25, 2005. Earl was a welder for most of his life working at Hennessy Products in Chambersburg, PA for about twenty years then he worked for APX in Mercersburg, PA.  He belonged to the VFW Post 655 in McConnellsburg, PA.  Earl enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Earl M. (husband of Wendy) Edwards, Jr. of Big Cove Tannery, PA, step-sons Christopher M. Martz of McConnellsburg, PA and Jonathan B. (husband of Stacey) Martz of Hustontown, PA, sisters Betty Y. (wife of John) Harr of McConnellsburg, PA, Mary Ellen (wife of John) Mumma of McConnellsburg, PA, brothers Homer E. Edwards of Chambersburg, PA, and Carl M. (husband of Margie) Edwards of Chambersburg, PA.  He is also survived by five grandchildren Tristan J. Edwards, Nate A. Edwards, Katelyn E. Edwards, J.J. Martz and Brooke M. Martz.  He wil soon have six grandchilren as Edward Jr. and wife Wendy are due to have another child in the up coming weeks.  He was preceded in death by a sister Elenora Mooney. Funeral services will be held at the Laurel Ridge Christian Church, Big Cove Tannery, PA, at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 14th,  with Pastor David Hamilton and Pastor Dan Porterfield officiating. There will be a visitation held on Monday, June13th from 4 PM to 8 PM. at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.  There will also be one hour of visitation before the service at the church. Interment will be at Laurel Ridge Christian Cemetery Big Cove Tannery, PA.
