Dwight Palmer Gordon, 86, of Needmore, PA, passed away Monday, June 23rd, 2014 at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg, PA.
Dwight was born in Strawberry Ridge, Fulton County, PA on June 9, 1928, the son of the late Mazie V. (Waltz) and Peter P. Gordon. He was the husband of Florine M. (Grissinger) Gordon whom he married on March 27, 1948.
He graduated from Warfordsburg High School in 1944 and in his earlier years, he worked for Gordon Brothers, KG Richards and then Fairchild Industries in Hagerstown, MD. He established Gordon's Grocery Store in 1960 and ran it until 1974, opened and operated Gordon's Meat Processing and also farmed throughout his entire life.
Dwight practiced Christian faith and attended the Needmore Bible Church, Needmore, PA and during the winter months, he attended the Christian Missionary Alliance in Zephyrhills, FL for seventeen years. He also was a charter member of the Needmore Volunteer Fire Company.
He enjoyed winters in Florida for the past seventeen years, believed in hard work and helping his neighbors. He was well loved by his family and respected by all.

(husband of Heather) Gordon of Needmore, PA, Grandchildren Josh (husband of Nikki) Lazarus of Lebanon, PA, Jon (husband of Amanda) Lazarus of Greencastle, PA, Krista (wife of Dylan) Shives of Sterling, VA, Damon Gordon of USN, Kings Bay, GA, Alicia Brewster of Tennessee, Great Grandchildren Tori, Taylor, Blake and Eli. Preceded in death by brother Dean C. Gordon.
Religious Service at Needmore Bible Church, Needmore, PA, at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 27th, 2014 with Pastor Keith Clugston and Pastor Doug Poffenberger officiating.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 26th, 2014 from 2 to 8 PM. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA. There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Friday at the church.
Interment at Antioch Christian Cemetery, Big Cove Tannery, PA.
