Dorothy M. Dishong, 91, of Fort Littleton, PA, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at Mercy House in Chambersburg, PA.
Dorothy was born on May 21, 1934, in Annville, PA, the daughter of the late Arthur and Helen (Seigrist) Painter. She was the widow of Ray J. Dishong, whom she married on May 5, 1973. He preceded her in death on March 25, 2024.
Dorothy was a member of the Calvary Independent Baptist Church in McConnellsburg, PA, and Liberty Baptist Church in Everett, PA. She loved crocheting, spending time with her family, playing games, and loved serving the Lord as her Savior. Along with her late husband of fifty years, she helped start the Gospel Strings ministering to nursing homes.
She is survived by her daughters, Dawn (wife of Bill) Kerlin and Cheryl Dilorio; sons, Larry (husband of Janet) Tillett and Bruce (husband of Tracy) Dishong; daughter-in-laws, Nancy Tillett and Jenny Dishong; brothers, Ross Painter and David (husband of Betty Lou) Painter; and sister, Alice Campbell. She is also survived by nineteen grandchildren: Michael Tillett, Randy Tillett, Daniel Tillett, Frank Stinson, Vincent Stinson, Crystal O'Malley, Mary Weigle, Wayne Dilorio, Amber Paynter, Alisha Evans, Erin Graves, Samantha Yensco, Heather Killingsworth, Trisha Cavender, Melissa Dishong, Kenny Dishong, Kyler Dishong, Steven Kerlin, Chad Kerlin, forty great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Steven Tillett; step-son, Ralph Dishong; son-in-law, Joseph Dilorio; great-grandson, Abel Evans; and sister-in-law, Mary Painter.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, PA, with Pastor Tim York and Pastor Cliff Swankler officiating. There will be a visitation held prior to the service on Monday from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Dorothy's name may be made to Mercy House, 730 Norland Ave, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
