Dorothy J. Brant

Dorothy J. Brant, 89, of McConnellsburg, PA passed away Sunday, November 24th, 2019 at her residence.

Dorothy was born in Shade Gap, PA on November 12, 1930, the daughter of the late Gail (Worley) and John B. Johnson.  She was the widow of Edward B. Brant whom she married on August 23, 1947 and he passed away on December 23, 1995.

Mrs. Brant was a member of the Knobsville United Methodist Church, was a  seamstress at Sagner and Waynesboro Knitting in McConnellsburg, PA until they closed, a seamstress at Overly Raker in McConnellsburg, PA, a cook at Keystone Country Kitchen and then operated Dorothy's Slimmer Trimmer You in McConnellsburg, PA in the 1990's.  Dorothy enjoyed crocheting, sewing, baking and cooking.

She is survived by daughter Melva M. DeShong, of McConnellsburg, PA, sisters Goldie Hampton, of Spring Run, PA, Mae (wife of Harry) Runk, of Spring Run, PA, Althea Coon, of Shade Gap, PA, Hilda Herman, of Harrisburg, PA, brothers Wilbert "Gib" (husband of Dolly) Johnson, of Shippensburg, PA, Norman (husband of Levonda) Johnson, of Fannettsburg, PA, Alfred "Pete" (husband of Mary) Johnson, of Alabama, granddaughters Heidi C. DeShong, of Chambersburg, PA, Heather  D. (wife of Ross B.) DeShong, of McConnellsburg, PA, great granddaughter McKenzie E. Spade, of Chambersburg, PA and great great granddaughter Adelynia J. Noragong, of Chambersburg, PA.  Dorothy was preceded in death by brothers Emory "Jim" Johnson and John B. Johnson.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 26th, 2019 from 6 to 8 PM   at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.  There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Religious Service at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA, at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 27th, 2019  with Pastor David Hamilton officiating.

Interment at Asbury United Methodist Cemetery, Harrisonville, PA.
