Donald "Don" R. Kinzie

Donald "Don" R. Kinzie, 86, of McConnellsburg, PA, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Manor Care, Chambersburg, PA.

Don was born in Roanoke, VA on December 30, 1932, a son of the late Mary Ethel (Abshire) Kinzie and Roscoe C.  Kinzie.  He was the husband of Alma L. (Bivens) McElhaney, whom he married on June 19, 1970.

He was a member of Laurel Ridge Christian Church Big Cove Tannery, PA, and he was a member of the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers).  Don was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the United States Navy.  He worked as a union electrician for  thirty nine years before retiring in 1994.

Don loved reading and watching TV, westerns and NASCAR were his favorites.  He thoroughly enjoyed a good meal, always being the first seated and the last to leave.  He also liked spending time outdoors and hunting.  He will be missed by many including his wife of forty nine years.

In addition to his wife, Don is survived by his children; Michael (husband of Wanda) Kinzie of Cincinatti, OH, Thomas Kinzie of Newport News, VA, Crickett (wife of Rodney) Brown of Hampton, VA, Pixie (wife of Marc) Welenteychik of Richmond, VA, step children David (husband of Lana) McElhaney of McConnellsburg, PA, Dennis (husband of Deborah) McElhaney of Big Cove Tannery, PA, Susan (wife of Gregory) Cordell of Lancaster, PA and sister Roberta Bigler of Roanoke, VA.  He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by son Eric Kinzie and sister Carol White

Funeral services will be held at Laurel Ridge Christian Church, Big Cove Tannery, PA, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 28th,  with Pastor David Hamilton officiating.  There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Interment will be at Laurel Ridge Christian Cemetery Big Cove Tannery, PA.

Military services will be conducted by the Fulton Honor Guard.
