Deborah M. Garlock, 59, of Wells Tannery, PA, passed away Tuesday, January 28th, at her residence after a long and courageous battle with AIDS, that she aquired from a blood transfusion in 1984.
Deborah was born in McConnellsburg, PA on November 30, 1960, a daughter of the late Edna M. (Seiders) and Harold R. Straley. She was the wife of Gregory J. Garlock, whom she married on September 29, 1979.
Deborah aspired to educate people by speaking at schools and various colleges throughout her community and across the state. She also served on various state affiliated boards for the education and awareness of AIDS. She loved helping others, spending time with friends and family and she really enjoyed sewing.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters Cassandra J. (wife of William E. Jr.) Beachley, of Wells Tannery, PA, Jennifer M. (wife of James R.) Dunn, of Wells Tannery, PA, sisters Dianne Straley, of New Jersey and Cheryl (wife of Larry) Parks, of Altoona, PA and brother Steven (husband of Debra) Straley, of James Crrek, PA. She is also survived by her five grandchildren; Hailey, James and Ashley Dunn, Gregory and Piper Beachley, and one great grandchild Paisley Crawley.
There will be a visitation held on Friday, January 31, 2020 from 4 PM to 8 PM. at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.
Funeral services will be held at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA, at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 1st, with Pastor Duane Williams officiating. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Saturday.
Interment at Union Cemetery McConnellsburg, PA.
