David H. Welsh

David H. Welsh, 78, of McConnellsburg, PA passed away Wednesday, January 1st, 2014 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown, PA. David was born in Brush Creek, PA on July 14, 1935, the son of the late William C. and O'Dessie (DeShong) Welsh.  He was the husband of Dorothy J. (DeShong) Welsh whom he married on October 4, 1958. Mr. Welsh was of the Protestant faith, served in the U.S. Army as a SP4, was a fifty year lifetime member of the McConnellsburg Volunteer Fire Company, member of the the Mason Dixon Fox Hunters Association, Fawn Grove, PA, past member of the Fulton Honor Guard and past commander of the American Legion Post #561, McConnellsburg, PA.   He was a  carpenter at Fulton Builders, McConnellsburg, PA and then was Superintendent of the Great Cove Golf Course, McConnellsburg, PA for thirty-four years until retiring. In addition to his wife, he is survived by Daughter Donna Welsh, Diane (wife of Jeff) Harr,Son David E. (husband of Tina) Welsh all of McConnellsburg, PA, Sisters Betty Mellott of McConnellsburg, PA, Florence Fix of McConnellsburg, PA, Helen Keefer of Mercersburg, PA, Opal Raker of Mercersburg, PA, Sue Yeager of Hustontown, PA, Grandchildren Mallory Welsh, Erin Harr, Devin  Welsh, David E. Welsh, Jr. and Great Granddaughter Rylee Lockard.  Preceded in death by sisters Amy Drenning, Irene Feight, Faye Koontz, Goldie Kerlin, Alice Mellott, brother Albin Welsh and grandson David Blake Welsh. Religious Service at Sideling Hill Christian Church, Needmore, PA, at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 5th, 2014  with Pastor William Swope and Pastor Betty Lou Secrest officiating. Interment at Sideling Hill Christian Cemetery, Needmore, PA. There will be visitation on Saturday, January 4th, 2014 from 2 to 8 PM at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.  There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Sunday at the church. Military services will be conducted by the Fulton Honor Guard.
