Darl L. Bishop Sr.

Darl L. Bishop Sr., 71, of Mercersburg, PA, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, PA.

Darl was born on July 11, 1953, in McConnellsburg, PA. He was the son of the late Richard Kenneth and Belva (Truax) Bishop Sr. He was the husband of Judy M. (Buterbaugh) Bishop, who he married on July 6, 1971.

During Darl's younger years, he started at Bridendolph's Sawmill in Cove Gap, then he worked at Grove Manufacturing in Shady Grove. He continued his career at Mellott's Manufacturing in Mercersburg, PA, before retiring from C. William Hetzer Construction. Darl enjoyed cutting firewood with his friend Bobby Lininger. He also enjoyed woodworking, hunting, and spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his children; Darla L (wife of Rodney) Smith, of Mercersburg, PA, Wendy S. Bishop, of Greencastle, PA and Darl L. (husband of Heather) Bishop Jr., of Williamson, PA. He is also survived by six grandchildren; Corey Smith (companion of Kelsey), Chelsea (wife of Ronny) Carson, Chassidy (wife of Sam) Cooley, Lexie Baugher (companion of Michael), Connor Bishop, Sierra Baugher and two great-grandchildren; Mason and Zoey Carson. He was preceded in death by two brothers; Richard Kenneth "Junior" Bishop Jr. and Sheldon Bishop.

A visitation will be held Tuesday,  June 3, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.

Funeral services will be held at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, PA at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, with Chaplain Kenneth Rummel officiating. There will be one hour of visitation held prior to the service on Wednesday. Interment will be at Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg, PA.
