Dale L. Schooley

Dale L. Schooley, 90, of Mercersburg, PA, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Chambersburg Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg, PA.

Dale was born in Harrisonville, PA on December 3, 1933, a son of the late Maye (Sipes) and William  Schooley.  He was the widower of Almeda G. (Hoffman) Schooley, who he married on September 8, 1957.  She preceded him in death on December 7, 2014.

Dale proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He then worked as a Supervisor at Grove Worldwide in Shady Grove, PA for thirty-five years before retiring.  He attended the Clear Ridge Church in Hustontown, PA.  He was a member of the Mercersburg American Legion Post 517 and the Mercersburg Moose Lodge 1790.  Dale enjoyed playing UNO with his family, hunting and the outdoors, especially cutting firewood.  He loved spending time with his family, teasing his grandchildren and telling stories about the "Good Old Days".

He is survived by his daughter Doris F. (wife of Chuck) Baker, of Greencastle, PA, his four grandchildren Jeremiah Truax, Danielle Wagner, Stephanie Miller, Briar VanHaastrecht and seven great-grandchildren; Peyton, Ashton, Eliza, Brooke, Haylee, Reese and Michael.  He was preceded in death by his daughter Brenda L. Dalton, a great grandson Kaesen VanHaastrecht and fifteen siblings.  He was the last member of his family.

Funeral services will be held at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, PA, at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 20, 2024  with Pastor Becky Cutchall officiating.  There will be one hour of visitation held prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.  Interment will be at Siloam Cemetery Harrisonville, PA.  The Fulton Honor Guard will provide military honors.
