Dalbert W. Knepper, 90, of McConnellsburg, PA, died Wednesday, August 27th, at the Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg, PA.
Dalbert was born in Dublin Mills, PA on December 30, 1923, a son of the late Alice (Black) and Jerre Knepper.
He was the husband of Martha V. (Fisher) Knepper, whom he married on August 21, 1943.
Dalbert was drafted into the Army on May 9, 1945. He did basic training at Camp Clayborne, LA, then was shipped to Iran for 6 months. From there he went to Italy and helped to build an airport. He was discharged on August 9, 1946. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for most of his life. In his early years he strip mined coal, he then went on to work for Hempt Brothers, Holloway Construction and New Enterprise Stone and Lime.
He was a member of Dublin Mills Community Church Waterfall, PA. Dalbert enjoyed hunting in his earlier years and spending time with his family and just being around people.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Connie L. (wife of Terry) Eisaman, Chambersburg, PA. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Arthur "Butch" Knepper, granddaughter Tracey Appleby, brothers; Harry, Jeffrey, Denver, Amos, Chester, and Jerre Knepper, and sisters; Mary, Charlotte, Grace, Hazel, Martha and Luella.
Religious Service will be held at Dublin Mills Community Church, Hustontown, PA, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 30th, with Pastor Sam Stoey officiating.
Visitation will be Friday 2 PM to 8 PM. at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA. There will also be one hour of visitation held before the service at the church.
Military services will be conducted by the Fulton Honor Guard.
Interment at Center United Methodist Cemetery Waterfall, PA.
