Obituary

Coy Eugene Spade, 85, of Needmore, PA, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at his residence with his family by his side.

Coy was born on June 19, 1940, in Sipes Mill, PA. He was the son of the late Veryl M. and Adrian H. (DeShong) Spade. He was the husband of Dorothy R. (Knepper) Spade, whom he married on June 29, 1962.

In his early years, Coy was employed by Frank Peck, John Deere Sales and Service of Warfordsburg. He later worked for Agway and P&W Excavating, and retired from JLG in 2002 following twenty-three years of service.

Coy attended Green Hill High School and graduated from Southern Fulton High School in 1958.

His family was an important part of his life. He loved being a grandfather and thoroughly enjoyed Conrad and Caitlin. He enjoyed hunting, camping at the North Forty Campground, gardening, and especially teaching his grandson to hunt. Coy was an expert John Deere mechanic and was sought after for his knowledge and advice on John Deere equipment.

He was a lifelong member of the Ebenezer Christian Church of Needmore, PA, where he served for many years as a Sunday School Superintendent. He was also a member of the Board of Trustees and contributed in many other roles within the church.

Coy served in the Pennsylvania National Guard with Troop F, 2nd Recon Squadron, 104th Armored Cavalry.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Lori (wife of Curtis) Glazier of McConnellsburg, PA. He is also survived by his siblings, Phyllis Truax of Needmore, PA, Jim (husband of Dee Ann) Spade of Needmore, PA, Karen (wife of Charles) Mehring of Keymar, MD, Patty (wife of John) Keefer of Needmore, PA, and brother-in-law, Jim Fischer; two grandchildren, Conrad Glazier and Caitlin (wife of Andrew) Weaver; and two great-grandchildren, Colby and Levi. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Betty Lou Fischer and his brother-in-law, Dean Truax.

A visitation will be held on Sunday April 12, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Ebenezer Christian Church, Needmore, PA, with Pastor Erik Sollenberger officiating. There will be one hour of visitation held prior to the service on Monday. Interment will be at Ebenezer Cemetery, Needmore, PA.

Military honors will be conducted by the Fulton Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Coy, may be made to the Ebenezer Cemetery Association, 226 Ebenezer Church Road Needmore, PA 17238.
