Bernadine H. Brant

Bernadine H. Brant, 100, of McConnellsburg, PA passed away Sunday, May 29th, 2016 at  her daughter Dixie's home in McConnellsburg, PA. Bernadine was born in Harrisonville, PA on September 24, 1915, the daughter of the late Elsie (DeShong) and William  DeShong.  She was the widow of M. Dean  Brant whom she married on September 26, 1936 and he passed away on September 7, 1998. Mrs. Brant was the oldest living member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Harrisonville, PA and was a Supervisor at Sagner in McConnellsburg, PA and also at Waynesboro Knitting.  Bernadine enjoyed gardening, sewing and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by  daughters Dixie Divens of McConnellsburg, PA, Shirley Lumpkin of Danville, PA, Patsy Freed of Carlisle, PA, Helen Duffey of McConnellsburg, PA, grandchildren Brad (husband of Alicia) Divens of Hagerstown, MD, Brian (husband of Angie) Divens of Halifax, PA, Straughn (husband of Darlene) Lumpkin of Durham, NC, Jeremy Lumpkin of Camp Hill, PA, Terry (husband of Lisa) Freed of Mechanicsburg, PA, Christina (companion Christopher Miller) Duffey of Bedford, PA, great grandchildren Zach, Constable and Sofia  Divens, Allyson and Lowell Divens, Grace and Seth Lumpkin, Matthew and Sara Freed.  Preceded in death by son William Brant, son-in-laws Roy Divens and Rick Duffey.  Mrs. Brant was the last surviving of thirteen children. Religious Service at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 31st, 2016  with Pastor Bill Bair and Pastor Donald Bard officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 31st, 2016 from 10 to 11 AM at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA. Interment at Asbury United Methodist Cemetery, Harrisonville, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Asbury United Methodist Church Building Fund, 174 Circle Drive, Harrisonville, PA  17228.
