A. Donald Swope

A. Donald Swope, 77, of Harrisonville, PA passed away Monday, February 22nd, 2016 at his residence. Donald was born in Belfast Township, PA on August 21, 1938, the son of the late Janet J. (Bard) and Floyd A. Swope.  He was the widower of Betty E. (Mellott) Swope whom he married on July 27, 1973 and she passed away on July 3, 2014. He was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Nazarene Church, Harrisonville, PA where he also was the cemetery secretary,  the Fulton County ASC committee, the PA Farm Bureau and the American Dairy Association.  Donald also was a Green Hill 4-H leader, FFA State Officer Chaplain from 1958 to 1959, was the Pleasant Ridge Nazarene Campground manager for many years, was a Licking Creek Township Supervisor since 1998, was a McNess Dealer from 1957 to 2013 and was awarded the American Farmer Degree in 1958.  Donald was a lifelong dairy farmer and drove school bus at Southern Fulton and Central Fulton for fifty-five years. Donald is survived by daughter Donna R. (wife of Cory) Gress of Harrisonville, PA, son Curt W. (husband of Sandy) Lynch of Harrisonville, PA, Larry (husband of Brenda) Betz of Harrisonville, PA whom he raised, sisters Evelyn (wife of Dave) Clonch of Berkeley Springs, WV, Dorothy Royal of Greencastle, PA, Iola "Toots" (wife of Ronnie) Zeger of Harrisonville, PA, Wilma (wife of Dennis) Sowers of Waynesboro, PA, brothers M. Cloyd (husband of Ruth) Swope of Harrisonville, PA, Warren (husband of Mary) Swope of Harrisonville, PA, Willis (husband of Barbara) Swope of Berkeley Springs, WV, Leo (husband of Carolyn) Swope of Harrisonville, PA, grandchildren Christopher W. (husband of Ariel) Lynch, Mandi A.(wife of Kent) Anderson, Carrie M. (wife of Jimmy) Hendershot, Mallory, Wylan and Myles Gress, Little Larry and Shane Betz, great grandchildren Trinity, Noah and Lily Lynch, Addison and Paige Anderson, Laynee and Tenley Hendershot.  Preceded in death by sisters Freda Keebaugh, Doris Swope, Pauline Swope, brothers Leroy and Wallace Swope. Religious Service at Pleasant Ridge Nazarene Church, Harrisonville, PA at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 25th, 2016  with Pastor Bill Swope and Pastor Dan Porterfield officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 24th, 2016 from 2 to 8 PM   at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.  There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Thursday at the church. Interment at Pleasant Ridge Nazarene Cemetery, Harrisonville, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Ridge Nazarene Cemetery, 792 Lick Hollow Road, Harrisonville, PA 17228.
