Willis A. Mellott, 81, of Needmore, PA passed away Saturday, January 5th, 2019 at his residence.
Willis was born in Needmore, PA on April 2, 1937, the son of the late Claire (Reed) and Oscar P. Mellott. He was the widower of Rae B. (Bookheimer) Mellott whom he married on December 24, 1959 and she passed away on January 20, 2011.
Mr. Mellott attended the Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren in Needmore, PA, served in the National Guard, was a charter member of the Needmore Volunteer Fire Company and was a member of the Cove Mills Tractor Club. He was a self-employed canned milk hauler for twenty years, drove a tri-axle dump truck for K.G. Richards in McConnellsburg, PA and also drove truck for S & S Excavating in Needmore, PA. Willis enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, racing and was an antique tractor enthusiast.
He is survived by sons Timothy A. Mellott, of Needmore, PA, Toby A. (husband of Elizabeth) Mellott, of Concord, NC, grandsons Darin (husband of Megan) Mellott, of Needmore, PA, Wesley (fiance Susan Chang) Mellott, of King of Prussia, PA, step-grandson Chase Carey, of Concord, NC, great grandchildren Graham and Paisley Mellott. He was preceded in death by brothers Maynard Mellott, Paul Mellott and sister Sylvia Wertz.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 9th, 2019 from 2 to 8 PM at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA. There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Thursday at the church.
Religious Service at Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren, Needmore, PA at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 10th, 2019 with Pastor Roger Truax officiating.
Interment at Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Needmore, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren, 2507 Pleasant Ridge Road, Needmore, PA 17238.
