Thomas H. "Tom" DeShong

 Thomas H. "Tom" DeShong, 68, of McConnellsburg, PA passed away Friday, June 7th, 2019 at Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg, PA.

     Tom was born in Bedford, PA on April 28, 1951, the son of the late Mildred G. (Kegg) DeShong and Willard F. DeShong, Sr.  He was the husband of Mary Lou (Shotts) DeShong whom he married on January 27, 1972.

     Mr. DeShong was a 1969 graduate of Southern Fulton High School and then attended the Thompson Institute in Harrisburg, PA.  Tom was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church in Harrisonville, PA where he served as a trustee for many years, he served on the Fulton County Planning Commission and also helped on various projects in the community.  He was a  financial officer at the First National Bank of McConnellsburg for thirty-nine years and also drove for Peck's Transportation after retiring from the bank.  Tom enjoyed hunting, being outdoors and spending time with his family.

     In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Valerie A. (wife of Jack) Runk, of St. Thomas, PA, Alicia D. (wife of Kimo) Silcox, of Brecksville, OH, Janelle A. Bitner, of McConnellsburg, PA, brothers Willard F. (husband of Cheryl) DeShong, Jr., of Shippensburg, PA, Paul R. (husband of Gaye) DeShong, of Annville, PA, Alan B. (husband of Lisa K.) DeShong, of Harrisonville, PA, grandchildren Kailey, Hayden,  and Abigail Runk, Luke and Claire  Silcox and Kiersten Bitner.  Tom was preceded in death by nephew Noah DeShong.

     Visitation will be Monday, June 10th, 2019 from 2 to 8 PM   at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.  There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Tuesday at the church.

     Religious Service at Fairview United Methodist Church, Harrisonville, PA at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 11th, 2019  with Pastor DeAnn Newhouse officiating.

     Interment at Fairview United Methodist Cemetery, Harrisonville, PA.
