Mabel F. Mellott

  Mabel F. Mellott, 71, of Shiremanstown, PA and formerly of McConnellsburg, PA, passed away Thursday, August 1st, at her residence. 

     Mabel was born in Sipes Mill, PA on April 10, 1948, a daughter of the late Ditha May (Truax) and Blaine L.W. Mellott.

     Mabel graduated from Southern Fulton High School in 1966.  She then attended Hagerstown Junior College before transferring to Towson State University to obtain her teaching degree.  Mabel taught Physical Education in the Baltimore area before retiring after twenty five years.  She enjoyed playing adult league softball and racquet ball.  She also enjoyed traveling with St. Martin Island being her favorite place.

     She is survived by her sisters Esther (wife of Dale) Mellott, of Shiremanstown, PA, Treva Starr, of Three Springs, PA,  Mary  Miles, of FL, brothers Ray (husband of Pat) Mellott, of Needmore, PA, Foster (husband of Barbara) Mellott, of Needmore, PA, Sheldon (husband of Judy) Mellott, of Chambersburg, PA and  Virgil Mellott, of Needmore, PA.  She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.   She was preceded in death by brother Orville W. Mellott and infant sister Evelyn Mellott

     Funeral services will be held at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, PA, at 1:00 PM on Sunday, August 4th,  with Pastor William Swope officiating.   There will be one hour of visitation held prior to the service at the funeral home.

     Interment will be at Ebenezer United Methodist Cemetery Needmore, PA.
