M. Cloyd Swope

 M. Cloyd Swope, 82, of Harrisonville, PA passed away Thursday, October 10th, 2019 at his residence.

     Cloyd was born in Belfast Township, PA on April 18, 1937, the son of the late Janet Joan (Bard) and Floyd Andrew Swope.  He was the widower of Ruth E. (Keebaugh) Swope whom he married on January 19, 1956 and she passed away on May 15, 2017.

     He graduated from the Green Hill High School in Harrisonville, PA and was a member and trustee of the Pleasant Ridge Nazarene Church in Harrisonville, PA.  In his younger years, he was a farmer and then a brick layer.  He also was a school bus contractor for the Central Fulton School District in McConnellsburg, PA.  Cloyd enjoyed coaching the Phillies little league baseball team, hunting, fishing and gardening.

     Mr. Swope is survived by sons M. Cloyd (husband of Ellen Marie) Swope, Jr., of Harrisonville, PA,
Walter (husband of Rhonda) Swope, of Harrisonville, PA, Greg (husband of Deborah) Swope, of McConnellsburg, PA, Andy (companion Cindy Booth) Swope, of Warfordsburg, PA, daughter Debbie (wife of Tony) DeShong, of Harrisonville, PA, brothers Willis Swope, of Berkeley Springs, WV, Warren Swope, of McConnellsburg, PA, Leo Swope, of Harrisonville, PA, sisters Evelyn Clonch, of Berkeley Springs, WV, Dorothy Royal, of Greencastle, PA, Iola Zeger, of Harrisonville, PA,
Wilma Sowers, of Chambersburg, PA, twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren.  Cloyd was preceded in death by son Michael G. Swope, brothers Leroy, Donald and Wallace Swope, sisters Freda Keebaugh, Pauline Swope, Doris Swope and granddaughter Angela Molchan.

     Visitation will be Sunday, October 13, 2019 from 2 to 8 PM   at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.  There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Monday at the church.

     Religious Service at Pleasant Ridge Nazarene Church, Harrisonville, PA at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 14th, 2019  with Pastor Mark Smith, Pastor Willis Swope and Pastor William Swope officiating.

     Interment at Pleasant Ridge Nazarene Cemetery, Harrisonville, PA.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Ridge Nazarene Cemetery Association, in care of Donna Gress, 792 Lick Hollow Road, Harrisonville, PA 17228.
