Helen L. Keefer

  Helen L. Keefer, 87, of Mercersburg, PA passed away Saturday, May 19th, 2018 at Woodland Retirement Home, Orbisonia, PA.

     Helen was born in Emmaville, PA on October 26, 1930, the daughter of the late Dessie (DeShong)  and William C. Welsh.  She was the widow of Clarence Loyd Keefer whom she married on February 12, 1955 and he passed away on January 1, 1981.

     Mrs. Keefer graduated from McConnellsburg High School in 1949, was a member of the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Mercersburg, PA and the American Legion Post #517 Ladies Auxiliary in Mercersburg, PA.  She had worked at G.C. Murphy's in McConnellsburg, PA, the Fulton County National Bank, Sagner Sewing Factory in McConnellsburg, PA and many other factories.  She also worked at the Grand Piano Furniture Company in Hagerstown, MD and retired in 2002 from James Buchanan High School. 

     Helen is survived by daughter-in-law Cindy Keefer, of Mercersburg, PA, grandson Eugene L. Keefer, Jr., of Mercersburg, PA, granddaughter Cheryl L. Keefer, of Mercersburg, PA, sisters Sue Yeager, of Hustontown, PA, special niece Carol Layton and numerous nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by sons Russel C. Keefer, Eugene L. Keefer, sisters Opel Raker, Goldie Kerlin, Florence Fix, Betty Mellott,  Amy Drenning, Irene Feight, Alice Mellott, Faye Koontz, brothers David H. Welsh and James A. Welsh.

     Visitation will be Tuesday, May 29th, 2018 from 5 to 6 PM   at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.

     Memorial Service at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, May 29th, 2018  with Pastor Harold Yeager officiating.

     Interment will be held at a later date.
