On Thursday, September 5th, 2019, Eugene Grant Swope, 74, of Warfordsburg, PA lost his battle to cancer and passed peacefully at home surrounded by family.
Eugene was born in Needmore, PA on May 17, 1945, the son of the late Alice (Ramsey) and Clyde Swope.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Carol (Walls) Swope whom he married on September 21, 1963, daughters Patti (wife of Tony) Murray, of Needmore, PA, Karen (wife of Tim) Stocker, of Warfordsburg, PA, grandsons Cody Murray, Joshua and Jacob Stocker and great granddaughter Iris Murray. Eugene's family also included Heath Jesse and Tara Russell and their families, sisters Marian Shultz, Darlene DeShong, Betty Mellott, Peggy Maslauskas, brothers Ralph, Harold, Ronald and William Swope. Eugene was preceded in death by brother Thomas Swope.
Eugene graduated from Southern Fulton High School with the Class of 1963 and after forty years of service with JLG Industries, Eugene retired as North American Manufacturing Manager. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Christian Church in Warfordsburg, PA, the Mt. Zion Lodge #774 in McConnellsburg, PA and the Harrisburg Consistory. He enjoyed hunting, camping, traveling and spending time with his family.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 8th, 2019 from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at Needmore Bible Church, Needmore, PA. There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Monday at the church.
Religious Service at Needmore Bible Church, Needmore, PA, at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 9th, 2019 with Pastor Bill Swope and Pastor Doug Poffenberger officiating.
A Masonic Service will be held on Sunday at 7:30 PM at the church.
Interment at Pleasant Grove Christian Cemetery, Warfordsburg, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fulton County Medical Center Dialysis Department, 214 Peach Orchard Road, McConnellsburg, PA 17233.
