Eugene L. Mellott, 74, of Harrisonville, PA passed away Friday, March 29th, 2019 at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, PA.
Eugene was born in Everett, PA on February 2, 1945, the son of the late Olla N. (Engle) and R. Wilmer Mellott.
He worked for Coca Cola in Chambersburg, PA in his younger years and then worked for Licking Creek Township until he was unable to work anymore. He also owned and operated Mel's Drive-In, Chambersburg, PA during the seventies and eighties. As an avid hunter, Eugene's greatest joy in life was hunting with his brothers and the love of the outdoors. As a hobby, he enjoyed woodworking, which included building kitchen cabinets and specialty items for relatives. Eugene also enjoyed fishing, especially saltwater fishing.
Eugene is survived by daughters Ginger A. Angle, of Chambersburg, PA, Tammy M. (wife of Bob) Martin, of Accokeek, MD, brothers Clarence Walter Reed (husband of Catherine) Mellott, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Barry L. (husband of Beulah) Mellott, of Needmore, PA, Randy Jay (husband of Lucille) Mellott, of Warfordsburg, PA, grandchildren Stephanie A. Smith, of Chambersburg, PA, Matthew L. (husband of Tara) Smith, of Marion, PA, Jeremy CJ (husband of Crystal) Bowerman, of Chambersburg, PA, Cassandra Rowe, of Greencastle, PA, Andrew Martin, of Waynesboro, PA, great grandchildren Shayla J. Smith, Owen Bertone, Alec Painter, Jovie Fickes, McKenzie Smith, Oaklie Smith, Keaton Morris, Brantley Bowerman, Ashton Rowe and Helicity Rowe. He was preceded in death by his life partner Joan Swope who passed away on February 15, 2008 and brother Leroy M. Mellott.
Visitation will be Monday, April 1st, 2019 from 3 to 8 PM at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA. There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, April 2nd, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA with Pastor Delmas Bard and Pastor William Swope officiating.
Interment at Sideling Hill Christian Cemetery, Needmore, PA.
