Darryl E. Heckman, 74, of Chambersburg, PA and formerly of McConnellsburg, PA passed away Monday, October 15th, 2018 at ManorCare Health Services, Chambersburg, PA.
Darryl was born in Chambersburg, PA on December 7, 1943, the son of the late Charlotte V. (Holtzapple) and Paul S. Heckman. He was the husband of Wilma R. (Ramer) Heckman whom he married in 2013.
Darryl was a 1961 CASHS graduate. He proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard for four years. Darryl became a Pennsylvania State Policeman in 1971 and retired in 1993. He also served as the Fulton County Coroner from 1998 to 2007 and he also owned and operated Country Lane Taxidermy.
He was a very accomplished artist, from woodcarvings, to drawings and paintings. He loved the outdoors and was a hunting and fishing enthusiast. He attended the Knobsville Church of the Brethren in McConnellsburg, PA, was a member and past president of the Home Association of the American Legion Post 561 in McConnellsburg, PA and the SASS (Single Action Shooting Society).
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Tonya Hann of Mercersburg, PA, Denise Miller of Chambersburg, PA, son Todd Heckman of Chambersburg, PA, step-daughter Julie Harrison of New Hampshire, step-son Jason Harrison of Duncannon, PA and eight grandchildren. Darryl was preceded in death by wife Marjorie J. Heckman who passed in 2006, step-daughter Tracie Sue Kershaw and brother Philip W. Heckman.
There will be a visitation held on Monday, October 22nd, 2018 from 6 to 8 PM at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.
A memorial service will be held at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, October 23rd, 2018 with Pastor Chris Elliott officiating.
Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
