Ray J. Dishong, 80, of Fort Littleton, PA, passed away Monday, March 25th, at the Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg, PA.
Ray was born in Johnstown, PA on June 20, 1943, a son of the late Elanor L. (Locke) and Ralph J. Dishong. He was the husband of Dorothy M. (Painter) Dishong, who he married on May 5, 1973.
Ray proudly served in the United States Air Force. He was a self employed truck driver throughout his life. Ray was a member of the Liberty Independent Baptist Church in Everett, PA. He was a founding member of over twenty years with The Gospel Strings, a singing, preaching and soul winning ministry focusing on nursing homes and church events.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his daughter Dawn (wife of Bill) Kerlin, of Fort Littleton, PA, son Bruce (husband of Tracy) Dishong, of Woodbridge, VA, step daughter Cheryl DiIorio, of McConnellsburg, PA, step son Larry (husband of Janet) Tillett, of Clay Center, KS. He is also survived by twenty grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Ralph Dishong and a step son Steven Tillett.
Funeral services will be held at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, PA, at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 29th, with Pastor Clifford Swankler officiating. There will be one hour of visitation held prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday.
Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Military honors will be conducted by the Fulton Honor Guard.
